Listen 2 You.

There will always be people watching your life, evaluating it and you…attempting to tell you what you need to do and what you should have done. There will always be someone putting on a Jesus costume and pretending to be all-knowing. There will always be those who judge you more than you could ever judge yourself, who whisper “lose weight”…”have an abortion”…”get a real job”…”date someone of your caliber”. There will always be those who seek to destroy you-before you even have a chance to embrace who “you” really is.

You see, the thing is, those people are like free weights. They’re designed to make you extend your limits and build stamina. They’re in place to help you mold yourself and strengthen your weaknesses. They won’t break you unless you let them. Though they taunt you and intimidate you, you can control them and their voices. You decide how much pressure they can actually put on you and what they’re really worth. You will always walk away a conqueror. They’re trapped in their circumstances…dead weight. They can’t move out of their circumstances so they spend their days criticizing yours.

All you have to do is have a goal, have a vision and press on. When you stumble, though they’ll laugh, remember to get back up and keep moving. Don’t become stationary. Don’t let them steal your momentum. Focus on all that is good within you. Focus on your desire to have more and to be more. And eventually, those who watched your life with criticism in their empty, black eyes will watch with envy as you prevail and overcome.

Just remember, the only person that you’re obligated to listen to…is you.
